Students have different circumstances outside their studies, and the best use of weekends and holidays will therefore differ from one student to another.
Students with additional commitments, such as employment, marriage, children or other family responsibilities, should use this time to fulfil those obligations and attend to any outstanding matters. Fulfilling the rights of one's family and dependants is itself an important part of the religion and should not be neglected in the pursuit of knowledge.
Students should avoid feeling that every free hour must be devoted to study.Overburdening oneself can lead to fatigue and place unnecessary strain on family life and other responsibilities. In the long term, this can make it more difficult to continue studying consistently or even result in a student leaving the programme altogether.
A balanced approach is therefore encouraged. Students should strive to fulfil the rights of Allah, the rights of their studies and the rights of those around them, recognising that long-term consistency is generally more beneficial than short periods of unsustainable effort.
Students who do not have external responsibilities are encouraged to dedicate a portion of their weekends and holidays to revision and additional study provided by the Institute.
On Saturday mornings, the Institute offers optional supplementary classes. These are intended to reinforce students' learning and provide additional academic support. Details are announced through the Student Broadcast on Microsoft Teams.
During the summer, the Institute offers a voluntary refresher programme. These classes are designed to help students strengthen their foundations, particularly in Arabic, Nahw and Sarf, and to address any areas of weakness before the commencement of the new academic year.
